Health For All

Providence Health Plan caregivers complete 1000 hours of volunteer work to Oregon Food Bank

20 February 2025

At Providence Health Plan (PHP), we believe that Health For All starts with ensuring everyone has access to the basics like nutritious food. Our caregivers celebrated the milestone of completing 1,000 volunteer hours at the Oregon Food Bank, an incredible milestone that reflects our mission to strengthen communities and address food insecurity.

To put this achievement into perspective, 1,000 hours is the equivalent of 125 full workdays dedicated to packing meals, organizing donations, and supporting families in need. This effort is a testament to the compassion and dedication of our caregivers, who go above and beyond to make a difference in the lives of others.

Food insecurity is a critical issue that affects thousands of individuals and families in our community. Without access to nutritious food, it’s nearly impossible to achieve your best health. That’s why PHP’s partnership with the Oregon Food Bank is such an important part of our Health For All initiative. By addressing hunger, we’re taking a proactive step toward improving the overall health and well-being of our community.

“At Providence Health Plan, we know that health is about more than just medical care – it’s about ensuring everyone has the resources they need to thrive,” said Don Antonucci, President and CEO of PHP. “Our caregivers’ dedication to volunteering at the Oregon Food Bank is a powerful example of how we can come together to make a real impact.”

We’re proud of our caregivers for their incredible contribution, but the work doesn’t stop here. Hunger is a complex issue that requires ongoing effort and collaboration. We invite our community to join us in supporting organizations like the Oregon Food Bank and taking action to address food insecurity in our neighborhoods.

Here’s what some of the caregivers who served said:

“Spending the day at the Oregon Food Bank with my team was one of my favorite days this past year. We listened to Yacht Rock radio while we bonded together over volunteerism. Kudos to the Oregon Food Bank for providing a fun and inviting environment where we can give back and spend time together!”

“It was meaningful to get to spend time with my teammates and do work that addresses hunger in the community. It truly felt incredible to be a small part of the work that ensures food reaches those who need it most.”

"Volunteering at the Oregon Food Bank was a rewarding experience that reinforced the power of teamwork and giving back. Coming together to serve our community not only made a meaningful impact but also strengthened our relationships as caregivers. It was a great reminder that when we support others, we grow stronger together."

“Volunteering at the Oregon Food Bank (OFB) was such a powerful experience for me. I was able to connect with community members, my colleagues, as well as witness firsthand the incredible impact OFB has on those facing food insecurity. Taking time to volunteer reminded me of how much we can accomplish and make a positive difference when we come together.”

Together, we can build a future where everyone has access to the resources they need to live healthy, fulfilling lives. Because at PHP we believe that Health For All isn’t just a vision – it’s a community pursuit.
